About Dr. Michael Fink...
PROGRAM NOTES ARE A NATURAL OUTGROWTH OF DR. FINK'S BACKGROUND, TRAINING, AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT. He received his Ph.D. in historical Musicology from the University of Southern California. In addition, he holds degrees in Composition from USC and the New England Conservatory, and did post-graduate work at Tanglewood and Columbia University.

A retired full professor of Musicology at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Dr. Fink has taught courses in Music History, Music Literature, Music Industry, and several other subjects since 1975. He has also served on the editorial board of the College Music Society's journal, Symposium.
Dr. Fink's musical publications include both original works and editions. His articles have appeared in The Musical Quarterly, and The New GROVE Dictionary
(2001). In 1990, Fink's book Inside the Music Industry won the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award. Published by Schirmer Books, it went into a second edition in 1996. In 1999, the publisher brought out Fink's second book, Exploring Music Literature.
